Grant Johnson Announces Retirement

With mixed emotions, we share some big news: Grant Johnson, our President/CEO, will retire from Toro Employees Federal Credit Union in August 2025 after an incredible 33 years of service.

Grant has been an absolute cornerstone in shaping Toro Credit Union’s journey, guiding us through pivotal moments like integrating real estate lending and rolling out innovative digital services. His leadership has been marked by vision, strategy, and an unwavering commitment to Toro Credit Union’s mission, which has driven our growth and success. His dedication to member service and community involvement has set the bar for excellence within our organization.

In Grant’s words, “It’s been an honor and privilege to serve our members as President/CEO since 1993. Thank you to the amazing staff, Board of Directors, and Supervisory Committee for your dedication, service, and support over the years. I’m confident that the credit union will continue to thrive in serving the Toro family and adding financial value to their lives.”

Paul Danielson, Chairman of the Toro Credit Union Board of Directors, says, “It’s amazing to think that Grant Johnson has led the credit union for forty percent of our history! For that, we extend our appreciation for his storied tenure. Through two stints on the credit union board as a member and board chair, I have always been impressed by Grant’s leadership. Grant steered us through both the ‘Great Recession’ and the Pandemic with ease.”

The Toro Board of Directors has developed and started executing a comprehensive succession plan encompassing hiring an Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO) by December 1, 2024. The EVP/COO will work closely with Grant, begin overseeing crucial aspects of our operations, and ultimately step into the role of President/CEO in August 2025.

During this transition, Grant will continue to lead the organization, working closely with the Toro Board of Directors and the incoming COO to ensure smooth operations.

On behalf of Toro Credit Union, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Grant Johnson for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and service. His impact on Toro Credit Union and the wider community will be felt for years.

Please join us in congratulating Grant on his well-deserved retirement and wishing him all the best in his future endeavors.
